AIDS Walk 2007They say that one good turn deserves another and after the outpouring of love and support I received for my weekend to end breast cancer, I'm inclined to believe that. As such, I'm writing today to draw attention to the fight against AIDS, a cause near and dear to many but more specifically, my friend GeneratingHype. For those of us old enough to remember, the subject of AIDS was a media bonanza in the 90's and it was constantly addressed in every newspaper, political platform, tv spot and magazine. Over 25 million people have been lost to AIDS so far, and 4.3 million people were infected with HIV in 2006. The spread of HIV is quickening, with more people infected in 2006 than in any previous year.

This week I am once again opening the CEA update with a talk about password security.
It was not that long ago when I discussed password and account security issues but recent events have compelled me to once again bring up the subject.
Recently a listing of approximately 150 deviantART usernames and passwords was found circulating among several nests of internet trolls. Our staff responded quickly to shut down the accounts whose passwords had been compromised but not before several accounts had been vandalized by third parties.
We are slowly restoring these accounts to their rightful owners and reactivating them but during this process I discovered by speaking with the proper account owners that they pretty much all shared one careless habit among them; ninety percent of them all used the same password on multiple websites.
